In Still River, the month of May is filled with hymns of love and devotion to Our Lady. Nature itself seems to join the celebration as it burst into color and life turning May into a perpetual “Mother’s Day.”

At Saint Benedict Center all this beauty climaxes with the annual May Procession, a day of flowers, song, prayer and love in honor of Mary the Mother of God. The Procession follows the Missa Cantata, with the crowning of Our Lady of Fatima in the sanctuary. She is enthroned on the sedia which leads the congregation as they spill out of the chapel and process through the grounds, singing and praying a decade of the rosary at each shrine. The crowd of over 300 travels along Route 110 to a total of four shrines, where the statues are crowned along the way. The final destination is an outdoor altar canopied and ready for the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Incense adds one more touch of elegance to the almost heavenly experience.

It was truly a glorious day! The weather was perfect and a pot-luck picnic followed where children and parents alike enjoyed some fun on a day dedicated to Our Blessed Mother.

We thank Our Lady for her continued blessings… and we thank all those who helped with preparations, setup, garden work and cooking to make the 2015 May Procession truly worthy of our Queen! O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today! Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May!
