A dear Salesian friend once shared with us that, as religious individuals, we do not take a “vacation” – instead, we have a “change of occupation!” Anyone who visits the monastery or volunteers at Saint Benedict Center can attest to this. No sooner had the graduation speeches been delivered and diplomas handed out to the Class of 2025 than the transition to new roles began.
Between the opening sessions of Montfort Camp, both at our home facility and in the Bayous of Louisiana, the Brothers have been busy with various aspects of the expansion project. The old kitchen is being transformed into office and lab space, while the former dining room is being converted into a classroom. Driveways are being paved, and the cupola is getting a beautiful stone face.
Additionally, the historic “red bricks” have been removed, and a new walkway is being laid to connect the old and new buildings.
