The lights are in the windows, the life-size Nativity is displayed, and the carols are being rehearsed in preparation for Midnight Mass! ‘Tis the season to open our hearts for the coming of Christ!
With one week to go, we want to share a little of the festive spirit of the monastery by highlighting a few events this December.
On the feast of Saint Nicholas on December 6th, the jolly Saint himself always visits IHM School. We are thankful that he takes time from his busy schedule to stop by (the next day, he was scheduled to fly into the North End in a helicopter!) View photos from the visit on the IHM School site here.
We’ve been blessed to have two Rorate Masses on the mornings of December 7th and 14th. Attending Holy Mass by candlelight in the early morning hours is a deeply moving experience and a beautiful meditation on the Light of the World.
The annual Christmas Fair took place on December 7th, and has become quite an event! In five years the fair has just about matched the popularity and success of our 40-year-old Fall Bazaar! Sparkling lights, crafts, food, music, and festive spirit practically burst from MacIsaac Hall when you open the front door! “Thank You” to everyone who helped out! View some great shots of the Fair on the Sisters’ site here.
The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th has its own gifts, in the tradition of the Guadalupe Roses! Every year, dozens of roses embank the statue of Our Lady for the feast! Following Mass, Father blesses the roses and distributes them to the faithful. What a sweet gift from Mary! Is she not our Mother?
As we finish the last days of school for 2024, everyone is excited about the upcoming class parties and dress rehearsals are taking place for the IHM School Christmas Program, on the evening of December 21st. If you are in the area, come and enjoy the show! ‘Tis the season to prepare for Christmas, and we are doing just that! We hope you are, too!
