In the providence of God, this year the feast of Corpus Christi fell on the last day of classes for the 2020-2021 academic year. For the first time in over a year the entire student body attended Mass together in IHM Chapel. We were honored to have a Solemn High Mass offered by Father Becker, with Rev. Mr. Javier Ruiz Velasco Aguilar, FSSP, as deacon, and Brother Christopher Isaac, MICM, as subdeacon. The IHM School Choir joined with the Brothers and Sisters in singing the Mass of the feast.
During the Eucharistic Procession, it was a meditation to think back to the last procession with the students which took place in March 2020, the day before schools were closed by state mandate. How blessed we have been to have the Blessed Sacrament with us in those strange times, and to know that He is with us βall days, even to the consummation of the world.β With full hearts the chapel reechoed with the words of the O Salutaris:
O saving Victim, opening wide,
The gate of heaven to man below!
Our foes press on from every side;
Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.
To Thy great name by endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, one in Three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days,
In our true native land with Thee. Amen
