It was a heavenly design that the feast of Our Lady of Fatima should fall on “Mother’s Day” this year, creating the perfect backdrop for our annual May Procession here at Saint Benedict Center!
After the 10 o’clock Mass, the ceremony began with the blessing of the crowns and the first crowning. As the procession began, overcast skies looked down on the faithful as they made their way through the grounds, singing hymns to Our Lady, crowning five statues in all, and following each with a decade of the Glorious Mysteries.
The climax was the outdoor Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament which took place on the front lawn of the convent. It was the perfect “Fatima moment” to kneel before the simple altar as the shaft of sunlight broke through the clouds! Ave! Ave! Ave Maria!
The afternoon picnic was a sunny time of meeting friends, new and old, and celebrating the glories of Our Heavenly Mother on the perfect Mother’s Day.
