January 17th marked the 65th Anniversary of the original founding of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the beginning of the 38th year of the re-founding by Brother Hugh MacIsaac. It was celebrated with a beautiful Missa Cantata and the reception of Miss Clare Trimble as a postulant!

At the end of Mass (in which Clare’s two brothers served as torch bearers!) and before the Last Gospel, Clare asked for “The mercy of God and the companionship of the community” and then received the black postulant habit.

This six month period, a prelude to the Noviciate, will offer our new postulant a chance to live the life of a Slave of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with the Sisters in serious discernment. We are so happy to receive her into our religious family!

Following the ceremony, all joined in congratulating our “new Clare” with prayers and good wishes, and a piece of cake which was decorated by our other postulant, who is also named Clair! Its the beginning of a whole new chapter here at SBC!

Please pray for Clare as she begins the first step in her journey towards becoming a Bride of Christ and for the perseverance of our happy young vocations! “The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send labourers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)
