Putting Memories to Music
IHM Band continued

The most important aspect though, is the spiritual motivation behind the band. Each practice starts with the following prayer:
O Queen and Commander of thy servant, who humbly stands before thee, I give to thee all my works. Take and cleanse them and present them to my Sovereign Lord. I beg thee in turn to grant me holy desires. Thine I am and Thine I wish to be. Therefore may my performance show Christ's strength in me in order to bring joy to thy Immaculate Heart, encouragement for the faithful and good example for
all who see me. I long to be in imitation of Him, the Light of the world, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. Amen.
With twenty-one years of memories and music behind them, the IHM Band hopes to continue giving a good example of the fruits of discipline, hard work and perseverence, to its members, and the world. Because even if the road of life is all up-hill, they know that if you put yourself in Our Lady's hands, hold your head up high, play to the best of your ability, and keep marching forward
you can be sure of a trophy in the end.

GATE of HEAVEN Chapel
The outside of Gate of Heaven Convent Chapel was worked on this winter, despite the cold and snow. Joe Maney, IHM '94, now a journeymen with Local 3 Boston, Bricklayers Allied Craftsmen spent many hours on a scaffold building the beautiful east wall of the chapel in brick and granite. Gothic windows, cut and mined in Vermont now await the placement of stain glass.
This work will long outlast Joe and will remain a testimony of his time and skill donated to Our Lady.
The rest of the chapel will be wood sided and finished with a bell tower which is being worked on at the shop. We hope to have the interior finished within the next few months. It has been built through the generosity of men like Joe who have either donated their skill or material. May Our Lady, Gate of Heaven, bless them all!
Many hours of labor were donated to construct the interior fireplace in the Chapeter room at Saint Elizabeth's and the East wall of the convent chapel, by Joseph Maney, one of IHM's graduates. They testify to the love and generosity that have gone into this building.

Having built a beautiful fireplace in the chapter room of St. Elizabeth's, and helped with other stone work around the monastery, Joe Maney put his skills to
work again in building the beautiful brick face of Gate of Heaven Chapel.
