I am all Thine
and all that I have is Thine.
Almost every woman dreams of the day when she, dressed in bridal splendor, is joined to the one who has unreservedly captured her heart. The profession of September 8th, was that dream fulfilled for Sister Brigid Mary
, yet different at the same time. Echoing in the thoughts of the Sisters, were the words of Christ, You have not chosen Me, I have chose you. Unlike an earthly wedding, the bride was not the glory of the moment; rather it was the Eternal Bridegroom, hidden in the tabernacle.;
The profession of Sister Brigid Mary took place at High Mass on the Birthday of Our Lady. Sister had spent six months in the postulancy and two years in formation as a novice preparing for this great day. Dressed in a beautiful white gown, with a crown of roses on her head, she walked down the aisle with her father, as the community sang beautiful Latin hymns. During the Offertory she pronounced her vows in a solemn cremony where she was given the full habit of a professed Slave of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Then leaving the chapel dressed in white, she returned minutes later in the black habit of the Slaves.
The altar was radiant with bouquets of white roses and bells of Ireland. Sisters family, originally from Vermont, traveled many states
to attend the profession ceremony. Her parents traveling the farthest came all the way from West Cork, Ireland, where they now live. Four priest swere also present; one, her godfather,even drove down from Prince Edward Island.
After the High Mass of Our Lady
, everyone gathered for a reception in the yard of the school overlooking Evans Valley. There the afternoon was spent in a befitting celebration, wedding cake and all. Before the event broke up, Sister Brigid Marys father, Jim Rock and Sister Marie-Jean played a few Irish tunes together on their violins.
Now the remainder of the pilgrimage continues for Sister who says with Our Lord, It is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me. We ask your prayers for perseverance.
