After a three day silent retreat, the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Brother and Sisters, publically renewed their vows at Mass on August 22, the feast of the Immaculate Heart.

Although the retreat was short, preparation was begun 33 days earlier as all members of the community are required to read St. Louis Marie de Montfort's "Total Consecration" in preparation. This comprehensive formula of prayer is the source of spiritual strength for the community.

Youth Retreat 2010

Montfort Retreat held its second Youth Retreat for high school and college age boys from August 8–14.

This week long experience, structured to form Catholic leadership, featured daily conferences given by the Brothers, Slaves of the Immaculate heart of Mary, and Retired Airforce Colonel, T. Taylor, which added a style much like the spirituality of St. Ignatius Loyola.

Kentucky Conference

On August 13 and 14th, Eternal Light Network, started by Father John Hardon, whose cause has now been introduced, sponsored "The Church Teaches Forum," a weekend of conferences and prayer to bolster the spiritual life of faithful Catholics.

Three Sisters joined the “rally" in Louisville, Kentucky, with a table of publications and other items.

A few of the main speakers were Archbishop Raymond Burke, from Rome, Bishop James Timlin, and Father Arnsparger.

The best way to describe the event was “wonderful”!

 

Morning Star Shines!

Morning Star Camp, brought Montfort Retreat to life for two weeks of colorful activity, laughter and singing with a full enrollment for both weeks of girls from across the country, ages 10-17.

If you happened to be enjoying a morning canoe ride past the Chapel of Montfort Retreat on any given day between July 25 and August 7, then you would have surely heard the melody of "Thou art the Star of Morning" echoing across the water, because that's the way every day begins at Morning Star! Thanks to the Fraternity of Saint Peter, who sent a chaplain for the full two weeks, the schedule for each day was complete with the daily Latin Tridentine Mass and Confessions in the mornings and Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the evenings.

Montfort Boys Camp

Montfort Boys' Camp was held at Montfort Retreat from July 11-17, 2010.

Sixty boys, ages 10-13, from across the country, attended the camp which was directed by the Brothers and volunteer staff of counselors and cooks.

The balanced schedule of both spiritual and physical activity for each day, boasted of various activities including: Daily Mass, Religious Instruction, arts & crafts, boating, fishing, swimming, archery, target shooting, boxing and a variety of team sports and competitions.
