The unusually mild weather experienced here at SBC has given the Brothers a chance to get a head start on the next step of the Gymnasium project.

Its exciting to the see the structure change from day to day as the front lobby, bathroom/locker and office areas are framed in. Progress has come so far in just a week!

Lenten Pocket Calendar

One of the popular publications from Mancipia Press is a pocket-size Lenten Calendar which is meant to help you make a profitable forty-day period of prayer, penance, and spiritual exercises in preparation for the proper celebration of Easter.

The small pamphlet style calendar also gives general descriptions of the Lenten practices and lists suggested practices that may be used along with your usual Lenten family traditions of sacrifices and penances.

This is a handy little tool to mark your progress in spiritual and corporal practices and help keep focused through the forty days.

The Lenten discipline consists of three separate parts:

1. Corporal or External Fast, including the abstinence from certain foods, drinks, and amusements, i.e. music, and parties during Lent. These points of fast should be stressed today especially with the mania of entertainment besetting our society.

Life or Death

Washington D.C. was literally flooded with pro-lifers of all ages on the grey drizzly day of January 23, 2012, for the 39th March for Life.

Among the crowds was the IHM contingent of Brothers and students who had driven through the night to participate. The Sisters had arrived a few days earlier for their booth at the March for Life Convention.

Despite the ugly weather the crowd of marchers was tremendous! The enthusiastic mob marched passed the Supreme Court for over two hours!

The Journey Begins

January 17, 2012, marked the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Although it was a day celebrated with no school… the chapel was filled for the beautiful High Mass of Saint Anthony the Abbot and to witness the "anniversary blessing" of two new vocations.

After the last gospel, the Sisters received Erika da Silva and Mary-Kate Duffy into their community as postulants.
