I f it’s not one thing…it’s another! Being a Slave of Mary means, giving all that we are, all that we have, and all that we do “To Jesus Through Mary.”
As an active Order, the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary have many apostolates. While IHM School, located on the monastery grounds, educates 125 students and takes a large focus of the community, it is not our major work. “From the Housetops,” a quarterly magazine based on the lives of the Saints, is our major tool of evangelizing. Distributed through the mail and by hand, person to person, it is our effort to bring souls to the Church.
Mancipia Press, operated by the Brothers, is a full-scale printing shop with a four-color press, and the state-of-the-art equipment needed for our magazine and books.
Montfort Retreat, a 150-acre facility in New Hampshire, houses our summer work. There the Sisters direct and operate three weeks of camp for girls and the Brothers, two weeks of camp for boys. Youth retreats and days of recollection are also held there.
A gift shop on the property offers beautiful art pieces and sacramentals for devotions.
Another apostolate of the Order is publishing and spreading “True Devotion to Mary” through lectures, the Consecration Manual, and a special ring designed for a symbol of consecration. Basically the title Slave denotes the true apostolate of the Order. Each member gives all to Our Lady and is ready to do anything for her. It’s not really what they do, but for whom they do it!
